The shoulder is a complex, ball and socket joint made of several structures and joints. The primary structures are the humerus (long bone of the upper arm with ball), the scapula which contains the glenoid (socket), and the clavicle (collarbone). The joint is held together by the joint capsule. The rotator cuff gives the shoulder most of its’ movement. The rotator cuff has four muscle and tendon structures – the Supraspinatus, the Subscapularis, the Infraspinatus, and the Teres Minor.
At Lowcountry Wellness Center, we treat a variety of shoulder injuries and issues without surgery, steroids and without pain medications. Our expert team of providers have a combined 30+ years of orthopedic care and are eager to help.
Dr. Penni Vachon commonly treat rotator cuff injuries and tendinopathies, impingement syndrome, AC joint injuries, bursitis, biceps tenosynovitis, arthritis, and frozen shoulder. The combination of medical care, chiropractic and physical rehabilitation help patients living with shoulder pain achieve better quality of life while decreasing pain.
Lowcountry Wellness Center has digital x-ray on site so our providers can not only complete a thorough history and physical, but we are able to see the structures of the shoulder without needing to wait. This allows our providers to offer a treatment plan quicker based on the x-ray findings at the time of the appointment. Treatment options may include physical rehab, injection therapy, cold laser, ultrasound, soft tissue manipulation, and Pain Coping Skills Training.
