What It Is
Elite iQ™ reads your skin before removing a single hair. Designed with the smartest, most advanced technology in laser hair removal. For more accurate and more effective results than ever before.
Elite iQ™ uses Skintel® technology. The only FDA cleared melanin reader, it adjusts to your exact skin type, finding the perfect setting for every skin tone – from dark to fair to tanned, and every hair texture – from fine to coarse to thick.
Beyond permanent hair reduction, Elite iQ™ effectively treats a wide variety of common skin concerns including facial wrinkles, sun damage, skin pigmentation and psoriasis.
How It Works
The Elite iQ™ device can treat a number of concerns, depending on its settings. It uses a dual-wavelength alexandrite (755nm) and Nd:YAG (1064nm) laser system to emit a concentrated beam of light at the base of hair follicles, destroying them at their base. This laser can also damage and collapse superficial veins, which are then absorbed by the body as blood is rerouted to healthier veins. Like other lasers, the Elite iQ™ causes a controlled injury beneath the skin, which triggers the body’s healing response, including an increase in production of collagen. What sets it apart in terms of hair removal safety for all skin tones is Skintel®, a technology that’s cleared by the FDA to “read” the concentration of melanin in the skin. While many types of lasers aren’t recommended for people whose skin tone falls at III or higher on the Fitzpatrick Skin Type scale (which measures your likelihood of burns or hyper- or hypopigmentation during the healing process), Elite iQ’s™ Skintel® technology measures skin’s melanin content and adjusts its settings, to ensure you’re getting the best wavelength and intensity for your skin tone. Other lasers traditionally used for hair removal work by seeking out and destroying pigment, so they tend to work best for people with light skin and dark hair—the contrast makes it safer. For people with dark skin and dark hair, it’s typically more difficult for the laser to discern between the two.
What To Expect
The hair removal procedure:
- The treatment area should be clean shaven prior to the procedure.
- The provider will use the Skintel® melanin reader to measure the skin on the treatment area and adjust treatment settings according to your specific skin type.
- The provider will then guide the laser handpiece over the area being treated.
- The handpiece will emit beams of laser energy which is absorbed by the hair follicles and converted to heat.
- This heat disables the hair follicle from future growth.
Is this treatment right for me?
The Elite iQ™ device can be safely used on all skin types and anywhere on the body including face, back, chest, arms, underarms, bikini area and legs. Talk with your provider to discuss if you are a candidate for Elite iQ™ treatments.
When will I see results?
You can expect to see a gradual decrease in hair thickness and the amount of hair in the area treated.* Since hair removal treatments only targets hair in the active phase of growth, multiple treatments are often needed for complete removal. Speak to your provider for a consultation to discuss treatment areas and number of treatments required.
*Individual results vary
Why Elite iQ™ instead of other hair removal options?
Since the Elite iQ™ device is equipped with the Skintel® melanin reader technology, which reads your specific skin type and adjusts treatment setting accordingly, you will benefit from a customized treatment perfectly matched to your skin!
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments and their durations will vary depending on the size of the area being treated. Each session typically takes less than 30 minutes. Speak to your provider for a consultation to discuss your target areas and the number of sessions required.
What does Elite iQ™ laser recovery entail?
The area may be a little red for a few hours after your treatment, but you’ll be able to return to your daily activities immediately afterward.
However, it’s extremely important to avoid direct sunlight and wear sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 30 (50 is preferred) in the days following any laser procedure, since the laser can make your skin more susceptible to sun damage. That could potentially lead to hyperpigmentation and irritation in the treatment areas.
How long do the effects of Elite™ iQ Laser last?
All laser hair removal treatments actually result in a permanent, significant reduction of hair, not a total removal. You’ll need an annual maintenance treatments to keep up your results.
